Meet Shannon: Guiding Brides at Curve Bridal Collection

At Curve Bridal Collection, we believe that every bride deserves to feel seen, confident, and radiant, no matter her size or shape.
Our stylists aren’t just consultants; they’re heartfelt allies in your wedding dress journey. Today, meet Shannon, a stylist whose background in photography, dedication to empowering brides, and love for emotional moments make her an invaluable part of our team.
In her own words, she shares how she came to this role, what inspires her, and what she hopes every bride takes away from their appointment.
1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you became a bridal stylist?
I am a creative photographer who went to FSU. I have lived in Jacksonville for 8 years now. I am a dog mom to two pups. I have been working in the wedding industry as a photographer for almost 10 years! As I got to capture so many gorgeous bridal gowns, when the opportunity arose to help a bride choose one of them, I jumped at the chance.
2. What inspired you to work in bridal fashion specifically?
My inspiration comes from wanting a bride to feel empowered on her wedding day, and to be a voice of guidance and assurance as they find their wedding gown. I believe the dress is more than fabric; it’s part of how they carry themselves through one of the biggest days of their life.
3. How long have you been working as a stylist, and what’s your favorite part of the job?
I have been working as a stylist for about 6 months now, and my favorite part of the job is sharing in moments of tears and laughter as the brides find their forever dress. Those emotional, meaningful reactions remind me why I love this work.
4. What’s the first thing you ask a bride when she comes in for an appointment?
I ask them about wedding planning in general, but usually start with the venue where they’ll be married, what the setting is like, and what the day feels like in their vision. That gives me context and helps me tailor dress suggestions to fit the overall vibe.
5. How do you help brides who feel overwhelmed or unsure of what they want?
I help brides by setting the tone that the changing room is a safe space where they can voice or feel whatever they need. As soon as the curtain opens, I stay ready to continue being their voice if they’re feeling overwhelmed. I encourage them to explore, try things they wouldn’t normally pick, and always remind them that it’s okay to pause, breathe, and recalibrate.
6. What are some common misconceptions brides have about wedding dress shopping?
One big misconception is that because they are plus-size, they need to cover up their insecurities. But bridal is a feeling, and as long as we find a dress that makes you feel stunning and confident, that is the dress for you. Size or shape shouldn’t limit joy, elegance, or self-expression on your wedding day.
7. What dress trends are you loving right now?
I’m loving deep plunges, corset tops, and lace appliqués these days. These elements bring a blend of boldness, structure, and romantic detailing that make a gown feel both fashion-forward and deeply personal.
8. What’s something most people don’t realize about being a bridal stylist?
That you become the bride’s confidant as she navigates the emotional journey of finding her dress. It’s not just about fabric and silhouette; you hold space for vulnerabilities, insecurities, excitement, and breakthroughs. That trusting bond is part of the beauty of this role.
9. What’s your #1 piece of advice for brides before their first appointment?
Come in with an open mind in terms of style, color, anything. You might surprise yourself. With that openness, we’ll work together to find your dream dress — maybe one you didn’t expect, but one that feels so right.
10. What should brides bring (or avoid bringing) to their appointment?
Bring whoever will be supporting and uplifting of your decisions as you find your dress. A positive crew is invaluable. Avoid bringing too many decision-makers or negative voices; too many conflicting opinions can muddy your instincts.
11. How can a bride make the most of her bridal styling experience?
By communicating what she loves from a dress or what she dislikes. That gives us a clearer direction. When we know what’s sparking joy (or what’s causing hesitation), we can zero in on gowns that highlight what matters most to her.
12. Any last thoughts or messages you’d love to share with brides-to-be reading this?
Your wedding dress journey is deeply personal; there’s no perfect formula or one-size-fits-all path. Trust your instincts, allow yourself to feel, and let this be a joyful exploration. Whether tears come or laughter does, each moment is part of your story. I’m honored to walk alongside you — and I can’t wait to help you find the dress that feels like you.
